Hiking - Walking: Snape Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: Approx 5 m
Packed our lunch and set off at ten, started the day with breakfast at
Levington marina where we read the papers and then headed over to Snape
where we parked at the Maltings for free :) Ask at the RSPB where we could
see a 'murmuration' thats a flock of starlings to you and me !!!! and he
said maybe Bythburgh at about 4 if we were lucky. So we have our rolls by
the quay - in the van as it's very cold :( and not so sunny as forecast !!!
We then wrap up warm and head along the marshes past Iken Cliffs and end up
at Iken Church, sadly you can't get down close to the river but we did see a
large highland bull :) and hundreds of wading birds and gulls !!! We walked
back a little way on the road and were lucky enough to see a Barn Owl fly
around us a couple of times :) We completed our 5 mile walk in about 2
hours and headed to Bythburgh to see if we could find the starlings !!!
After riding around for abit with no luck we parked on the Walberswick road
had a tea and watched the sunset :) Then we tried the Southwold road and
came across a few birdwatchers at Hen Reedbeds,we parked and got a quick
glimpse of a mini murmuration :) as a small flock of starlings danced at
dusk !!! So a top top day even if the sun did'nt play ball much :(
